This new 11,000 GSF Academic Learning Center is located on the Dallas Baptist University Tarrant County campus in Hurst, Texas. Construction was completed in 2008. Site development included full excavation with reconditioned soils and lime stabilization at the building pad. The concrete paved surfaces included curb and gutter, sidewalks and modular pavers. The site utilities were complete with a unique "in-pipe" underground detention system. The building's structure was comprised of two story steel framing over concrete grade beams and slab-on grade foundation. The second floor was typical concrete slab on elevated metal decking. Structural steel cat walks allow attic and cupola access. The exterior façade consisted of brick and cut stone with residential style door and window openings. Slate facsimile shingles comprise the roofing material and are placed over pre-fabricated light gauge metal framing and steel decking.
